Website Development and Website Design
If you’re a business owner on the fence about creating a website, let’s save you some time—you need one. A good one. A professionally designed, lead-catching, sales-increasing, brand-differentiating website.
When it comes to website design, there are several factors one should consider. Initial investment is one of them but one should be cautions on deciding on which way to go based on initial price. What one may save initially, he or she will loose more long term when it comes to getting your website to deliver what you expect from it.
While you may be tempted to go with the cheapest option such as DIY website builders (Wix, GoDaddy, Vistaprint etc.) you should consider what you get and the real adjusted cost of the developing the site. You will still have to invest in developing your website’s collateral (writing your text, researching and developing topics of interest and relevance to your audience etc.). Furthermore, while such platforms offer all in one solution such as SEO and marketing, the level of marketing and fine tuning your website built with DIY platforms and that built with custom WordPress solution can never be measured on equal level.
DIY Website Design and Website Development – Pros and Cons
Yet, we have not discussed the most important reason of being cautious when deciding on DIY approach. Most DIY platforms such as Wix, Godaddy, Vistaprint etc.) are built on a proprietary technology so they are not universally transferable as WordPress built websites. Once you commit to DIY platform, you are commuted to it long term and cannot port or move your website elsewhere without significant engineering and building it from scratch again.
Furthermore, with any DIY platform website builder, there is an inherit limit of what once can and cannot do. You are given a finite selection of options and block which you can mix and match to build a relatively nice looking website, you are limited to those options and cannot ask or implement anything else. WordPress core on other hand is complemented by infinite extension capabilities via third party plugins that can extend the functionality of your website to what you need it, now as well as later.
Conclusion
There are literally millions of developers and even more plugins that had been built for WordPress and majority of those plugins are either free (licensed under GPL license) or priced reasonably to anyone. So your website will never outgrow itself and you can expand and extend its functionality as your business grows and expands.
